My Adventure with Harry

Last week, before my Fall semester started, my friends and I took a vacation to Florida. We planned to go to Universal Studio's Theme park as well as a mandatory trip to the beach, since there are none here!

Harry Potter Goodies:

This smells like chocolate....holy-bananas...

Well... that is my slight obsession with the Harry Potter series. Just for clarification - I was sorted into Ravenclaw on Pottermore, previously it was always a close tie between Slytherin and Ravenclaw... Also, anytime I refer to Harry Potter I am usually referencing the series, not the character (as an individual pointed out the confusion they had).

{Birchbox} August 2012 Box

August 2012 Box

Schick Hydro Silk Razor
Juice Beauty Oil-free Moisturizer
Eye Rock Designer Liner
C. O. BIGELOW Metha Lip Shine
Juicy Couture Viva la Juicy La Fleur

So I'm not too impressed with this months box, similar to how I wasn't over the moon with last months either. I had been wanting to try the Viva La Juicy La Fleur perfume before, so not a complete waste. Not to fond of mentholated lip products, price is $7.50, but wouldn't normally purchase. I don't know what the point of peel/tape liners are. I suppose the Schick Hydro Silk Razor is worth the price of the box, ranging from $8-$12, plus a pack of coupons came with it. I'm curious to try the Moisturizer as well, always looking for something new to try, but I'm pretty content with my Cetaphil Cream.

Overall the contents of the package are worth the price of the box, but wouldn't have normally purchased them. I am not extremely satisfied, but not totally disappointed either.

July Box Product Review:

I really enjoyed using the Jouer Luminizing Moisture Tint and the Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner. The eyeliner has replaced my Maybelline liquid liner for the month! I tried the LÄRABAR® über, not to fond of the texture - reminded me of cardboard. Didn't use the perfume (gave to my sister) or the blotting papers. Also the earbuds have horrible quality, sound muffled and not clear - cute colors though.

{Review} Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation

Hello there!

I'm finally getting to review the Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup. I have finally finished the first bottle I purchased in April and just repurchased a new one (featured below). The first one I purchased was from the Estee Lauder counter and I was color matched to one of the lightest shades, Shell. The second one I purchased was from the Cosmetic Company Outlet, and I think this might be an older or European version of the foundation, based on slight packaging differences.

Just a quick peak on the online store for a price reference and holy-bananas batman... almost half of the shade range is sold out! (Now they are on PRE-ORDER only)
From the CCO
From the department store here in America

Basically this has been my go to foundation, at this point I don't know if I need to look into a different foundation. I really love how buildable the coverage is, when you apply the initial layer virtually all discoloration, dark spots (I have several), and blemish are blended away. I go in with a bit more foundation on my more problematic areas, around my nose and on my cheeks, and it is fantastic how much coverage you can get from a small amount of product. I haven't really been using a concealer with this regularly, I only just purchased a corrector and have been experimenting. To apply I have been using a sponge, which I have found to work the best out of the various foundation brushes I own.

This foundation doesn't have a long lasting sticky feeling, which I have experienced with many other types and sets quickly and there is no need for powder, allowing for a more natural finish. This also means that there is less of a chance of this transferring over between your face and worldly objects (i.e. your phone, clothes, etc.). Also, this truly feels weightless on your skin. Of course it would be strange to say it feels like natural skin, because there is obviously something on your face!!! But it is pretty close to and your face can breath some!

I highly recommend that you get color matched to this foundation, the counter usually offers a 14-day sample of this foundation, which is great because of the price tag. I didn't bother with a sample, me being hard headed, but amazingly it worked out. I was color matched to Shell it's a cooler light shade and recently because of summer I have found it to be a bit pale, so I warm up my face with a bit of bronzer and blusher.

I would advise that your skin be very moisturized prior to using this, as it can highlight any dry patches of skin you have. When I first started using this, that was one of the major problems I noticed, but I was able to correct it. Make sure you stay hydrated and moisturize regularly. I have a dry skin type and I have been able to use this without any further problems.

I can attest to the claims that this will last 15-hours, in high activity and in humidity.  Staying at school for 10+ hours you want your face to look the same at 5 pm in your evening lecture class as the same it did 7:30am walking out the door... so slippy-slides. Also, I work in a restaurant, the kitchen is blazing hot during the summer and running between food and customers can make you "glow" (as my dad says women don't sweat, we glow. HAHA). This is very much so, I will be a big pool of hard labor and my face is still intact in the same way it was when I applied before work. Oh, and humidity? Not a problem. Here it's usually between 50-90% humidity.

I fell in love with this foundation, I know it's not for everyone, but I am truly happy with it!

  • 15 hour staying power, staying flawless all day
  • Lightweight and comfortable
  • Non transferable, won't change color
  • Medium, buildable coverage
 $36.00 (the price just increased $1) // CCO: 26.50

Thank you for your patience!
(I just finished taking my MCAT exams, so I will finally have a bit of down time. WHOO~!)

Weekend Findings // The Sister Returns!

Saturday night my sister returned home from her summer internship. (Yay! I'm so happy to have her back home =].) To welcome her back I baked some basic cupcakes. I don't like a lot of sweets so hopefully everyone will chip in and eat them!!

My sisters internship was in Colorado so she was able to experience the western culture of the United States a bit and do some site seeing! Plus she sent us home a box full of lovely items such as some coffee, an Air Force Academy shirt, a blanket, a few mugs, magnets, postcards, and a purse for me!

I love these types of purses, my friend brought me back a similar styled one from Peru, they are so comfy.

{p10p} July Empties!

So I've emptied quite a few bottles (and a pouch?) this month. My last Project 10 Pan challenge post, I only had two products left... Well I surpassed that this month! Many of these items I will by again, but some I might just pass on for now.

I have repurchased the Bliss Hand cream, as it was featured in my favorites previously. The two Clinique face washes, one in dry skin type and the other in oily, are very comparable to the Simple Skincare line's moisturizing face wash. However, I did noticed my face was a bit drier with the Clinique wash. I have switched back to using my CHI silk infusion serum, after using the Organix oil, I did like the smell and it made my hair soft, but it would grease quickly.

I don't know if I can count the Simple makeup removing sheets in this, but I might not if I do this in the future. There are only 25 sheets in a pack which almost guarantees you will have to buy a new pack at the end of the month...

This Burts Bee's face wash was something I had been wanting to try. It came in a holiday set from my Omi (Thank you! :]) It has a citrus smell and a creamy texture. I did like it, but you need to use a makeup remover prior to use. I will repurchase this later. My all time favorite face wash is the Purpose one. It is great for sensitive skin and takes off every bit of makeup, in my experience. Lastly, I have dry skin so this Dove body wash was great for that, I will repurchase once I finish my other soap.

I didn't realize how much face wash I had in this post until I wrote about them, also looking back at the packaging, I have quite a bit of blue and green items. Strange!

Well that finishes my Project 10 Pan and then some! I will continue this project, but with my cosmetic items, as I stated in my last p10p post.

Have you tried any of these products I have here? Did you like them?

Until next time, take care!
