Love & Bento

Hi all!

I hope you have a lovely weekend and Valentines Day (if you celebrate). This is a day my boyfriend and I typically do not do anything big for. I always have told him, over the past 7 years, that there is no need to make a big fuss over this day. As such, we usually only get each other cards. This years was super cute! Of course I also got a chocolate :).

Alongside working, I got a chance to catch up with some friends this weekend. We went on a double date to a new Japanese restaurant, which was pretty authentic compared to others in this area. All of us opted for a bento box. <3 p="">

I feel like I wasn't able to accomplish much this weekend: worked on some application, cleaned, sorted, organized, but that's about it. I feel so unproductive. =_=;;

Well, here is to a productive week and good picture taking weather!

P.S. To all my new subscribers: thank you for checking out and joining my blog. I am so glad to have you here! :]

{Review} Neutrogena healthy skin liquid makeup

After last weekend's foundation fiasco, I was scurrying around to different makeup counters getting color matched, Lancome and Estee Lauder, and came out with quite a bit of samples...

I thought I would try a break from department store foundations and try a few drugstore alternatives. One of these was Neutrogena's healthy skin liquid makeup, which is supposed to be a pretty good dupe for NARS sheer glow foundation. After trying this foundation, I don't think there is any comparison.

Since I am of a fair complexion I chose the lightest shade available, Classic Ivory 10, which matched almost perfectly.

The foundation's formula is quite watery and light. The claims are to provide a natural look, but with this claim comes a sheer coverage. I didn't find that this was a buildable formula, if you added to, the foundation would start to become patchy (starts to separate). Generally, I do prefer medium - full coverage foundations.
I did not like the bottle's design, the formula is thin and watery so it gushes out of the neck when trying to apply. It's better to dot this foundation onto the skin rather than aliquot an amount to the back of the hand.  This definitely does not have any wearing or lasting power, even setting with powder.
My skin is normal-dry, therefore I was under the impression that this foundation was better suited for me. The finish appears dewy and "natural looking." Though I did not experience any dry patches on my skin while wearing this, I did experience several breakouts. I have developed some cystic acne spots. So very, very painful. :(
In the end, I don't know who would really be suited to wear this foundation, maybe if you had tolerable skin with no major problems, and didn't mind looking like a wreck half-way through the day because your foundation wore off... Would I purchase again? No, nor would I recommend this to a friend. I did end up returning this product to Ulta, getting my $11 back.

Pros: No horrible smell, dewy-luminous finish, no shimmer or sparkle
Cons: Watery, bad bottle design, light coverage, no lasting power, broke me out

Have you had any experience with this foundation? I've hear the new Revlon Nearly Naked Foundation was good!

{NOTD} - Provence

Hello lovely!

Are you well today? I am still quite busy finishing applications, but I wanted to share a nail color I've been adoring.

This is a gorgeous pastel color, when I spotted it at the store (on clearance sale) I had to get it.

Haha, Provence as in France? :)

This has a super amazing lasting power, I've been wearing it for quite a while (5 days) and it's been holding up. I cannot wait to try more of the Revlon Colorstay polishes, I think they are quite superb!

Have you tried any of the Revlon Colorstay colors?

End of the Year/January Empties

Good evening!

Within the last couple of weeks I have been resorting and organizing my room and bathroom. I'm trying to make things a bit easier and consolidated.

During this I found some a few things that really needed to be polished off for good:

Vaseline Healthy Hand & Nail lotion: I found that this formula was a bit too water for my liking, the moisture didn't seem to last that long and I was constantly reapplying to quench my thirsty hands and cuticles.

Burt's Bees Facial Cleanser: This is a cream based cleanser which smells of almond oil and cherries to me. It does it's job and cleans pretty well, though I did catch myself having to follow up with a toner.

Evian Refreshing Spray:
All this is is H20 - good 'ole plain water. I didn't notice a change in my skin, kind of a waste of space to carry around a water mist too. I didn't like the fact that when you spray this onto your skin you have to pat/press it into the skin, or else you will have water beads dry on your face.

Studio Beauty 35 Polish Remover:
I think this is CVS or Walgreens brand remover. Not very strong or good at removing polish, as it has a low acetone content. Does not smell pleasant.

Urban Decay All Nighter Spray:
I think this was my 2nd or 3rd bottle, and from the packaging you can tell this is fairly old. I used to use it regularly, but never noticed a big difference in the application or longevity of my foundation/face makeup.

Bliss High Intensity Hand Cream:
Hands down (pun intended?) the best hand cream. I love the smell, not to over bearing. I was holding on to this tube to squeeze out every last bit. My hands feel nourished and loved when I use this.

That's all for now; I left my USB drive in my work computer so I have a break from applications...

Short Update!

Hello lovely readers!

I had a quick update for you. First off, it's February already? How did that happen?! These next couple of weeks might be a bit hectic for me with school, graduate applications, exams, and what-not. So I'm going to try my best to post up regularly  but they might just be NOTD or small hauls (even though I've sworn against buying for myself - however a new crisis has emerged....).

If you been following this blog, you might know that my favorite foundation, holy grail, has been the Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-In- Place makeup. I am sad to report, that the formulation and color range as been changed. I'm going to be trying a sample of the "replacement" shade for the older color I wear to see how that works, but I don't think it's going to be the same.

In the meantime, I am on a hunt for a new full coverage, long lasting foundation. What is your favorite foundation? Please let me know, I am trying to find something that will last me between a full day of school and work which won't require touch ups for my dry skin.
