What's in my Handbag!

What are your favorite types of post to read or YouTube videos to watch? For me, I love seeing what other people carry in their handbag. I think it's quite funny, how we lust for this willing invasion of privacy to see what others have and hold so close to them. It's acceptable if they share with us, but not to for us start rummaging through their handbag.

My current handbag is the Coach Mini Satchel in Saffiano Leather.

Don't be fooled by this picture, even though this handbag is quite small in appearance it will hold enough essentials without breaking your back.

The usual suspects:

Tucked away in my handbag I keep my Calvin Klein wallet, what I like most about this is that it's zippered which keeps everything in it's place. I always keep mints like Altoids or gum with me too. Recently, I've discovered the practicality of a handbag hook, when I'm sitting down for a bite or having something out to drink where do I keep my handbag? On the chair behind myself where it will become squished? This is where my handbag hook comes into play. I've started using it more and more and I've had a lot of people asking what it is and tell me how they need to get one as well... it's now become essential to bring along. I also think it's a necessity to keep pen and notepad on you in the event that you need to sign something or jot something, might as well be prepared!

The next few items falls into personal care. I keep my Madewell nail file with me which I happened to get in a birchbox. Having a hair brush or comb is a must and for portability I keep a folding brush with mirror, you have no idea how many times I use this. Of course having a hair tie comes in handy too. Alongside having a hair brush keeping lip balm is important too, I use my favorite Blistex five star lip balm. For touch-ups I take my current lip color which was the M.A.C Lipstick in Blankety. My dry skin requires hand cream, currently I'm using L'Occtiane, and lastly for those times I'm unable to wash my hands properly I use a hand sanitizer, this one is from Bath & Body Works.

So I'm quite proud of myself that I have managed to condense what I carry with me, partly because having a smaller bag forces you too take less. If I carry a larger bag, then I generally do carry more... What do you keep with you?

Also, a quick reminder that Google recently announced that they will be doing away with their blog reading program, Google Reader, on July 1st. This means that everyone reading this blog using Google Reader will no longer be able to.

There is a quick and easy solution to this problem, which is to switch to another service before Google closes their program. This can be achieved through Bloglovin':

After you've linked your Google account to your bloglovin' account, you should now be saved from this catastrophe! Just make sure you do this before July 1st!

The tortoise glasses collection features an intriguing collision between retro glasses styles and modern fashion. Luxury feels yet low-profile design, break limits and lines.
There are many different styles to choose from, like rectangles, my personal choice.
Rectangle glasses with small-sized frames of serious and scripted design add sharp angles to the soft curves of your face, making you look mature and attractive.

{NOTD} Past // Weekend catch up & haul

I feel as though I've let my posting slip again. In my last post things were a bit hectic and still continue to be while I'm in this state of limbo in between job hunting and figuring out what's happening with continuing on in my education for another degree. Currently, I am out of town visiting with my fiance. Brace yourself, cell phone pictures incoming.

Here's the view from my room, inviting right?

Nope, not with that cloud.

So I've been dealing with gloomy, hot, and humid weather on top of the chance of terrible storms. Most of the days here haven't been to bad. I've managed to take a tour of a naval ship (massive ship, small rooms, bad air circulation), walked around in the downtown area, as well as gone shopping at the local outlet mall. Which brings me to my small haul, a couple items new products and one I've begun using prior. Outlet prices = awesome savings.

Also, I wanted to share this gorgeous nail color I was wearing a little bit ago, but never got the chance to post it up! Yeah, continuing the green on into June. I don't know why I've grown so fond of green, generally I always gravitate toward blue shades and tones. Blue is my fav.

Essie Mojito Madness | I just love that name ;)

Well I suppose that is all for the moment. Time to get back to applications and all that fun business before a long drive home.

How was your weekend? What did you do?

{Birchbox} May 2013 // My last box

Oh, hey June! Have you seen May? I think she just ran past me so fast I couldn't catch her!!!

These past few weeks have been busy, between job searching, cleaning, organizing and doing all the things I couldn't do while in school, I haven't been able to update! Also, my fiance left on military order so things have been a bit hectic up until he left while we tried to finalize some things before he went off. Now onward to today's post!

I have canceled my monthly subscription to birchbox. Through each month the integrity of the products gradually decreased over my subscription period. I've had mixed feelings throughout the duration of my subscription, but the products I received in this months box just didn't satisfy me and the price I paid for it. Ultimately I just reach a tipping point with this box and decided I was no longer going to tolerate paying for a sample service just to receive mediocre products.

Pilot Corporation of America Acroball PureWhite - This was probably one of the tipping points for my cancellation. A pen, really? Yeah I love stationary items and writing utensils, but I don't want to receive one in my deluxe beauty sample service box. My least favorite color of ink is pink, guess what I got, pink. :[

Klorane Gentle Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk - I was impressed with this dry shampoo, though it definitely doesn't do anything better than what my beloved Batiste does. I would like to complement the scent of this product, not over powering or fragrant. I might consider buying it again if it was available in a store near me, but I can only seem to find online retailers for it. Quite pricey too compare to Batiste.

Sumita Color Contrast Eyeliner - I don't hate this liner at all, in fact it's quite nice. I takes a while for the pigment to transfer from your top waterline to the bottom as it's not completely waterproof.

COOLA Classic SPF 30 Cucumber Moisturizer for Face - I guess I'll welcome this, though the tub only appears to be partially to halfway full when I received it, not really a deluxe beauty sample. The smell reminds me of the Nair hair remover lotion... not the most pleasant smell...

Marvis Toothpaste - I don't know if oral care/hygiene would be really qualified as beauty, same with some of the food sampled birchbox throws in. This is a nice toothpaste, taste a bit like a pop an after dinner mint in. Refreshing for sure, but unexpected in my box.

All in all, I'm disappointed, I expected more ravishing products to try in my monthly sample boxes, but ended up with a bunch of duds. There have been only two items in my birchbox history that I was thoroughly impressed with enough to repurchase. One is my personal favorite razors the Shick Hydo Silk and the other was the Eyko liner pen. I still purchase the razor and have since found another favorite eyeliner brush/pen. Also, reflecting on the whole concept of sample boxes, I think they might be more directed toward people who have money they wish to spend on products they never knew existed. Meaning that they have yet to discover their favorite product of some sort and are constantly trying many products to find their HG one, and have enough money on hand to do so. For now, while I'm unemployed, I will stay away from these sample services and stick to those products I know I will reuse again and again. Obviously my opinion has changes since starting my subscription to my now canceled state.

What's your take on sample services?

Oh, if you know any Labs or Biotech companies in the Atlanta area who are hiring, HMU...jk...okay I'm not...I'm dead serious, let me know!
